Weight training is usually thought as primarily muscle building exercise, but this is exactly the reason it will help you burn fat. As you build muscle from lifting weights, you will actually also be increasing your resting metabolic rate. This will result in more fat loss. To increase muscle mass and burn fat from weight training you need to exercise with high intensity and avoid overdoing it. You should also split your routine so you train a few muscles per workout. This is great for getting enough work for each muscle and getting plenty of recovery time. Your weight training workouts should last 45 minutes to an hour and be done 3 to 5 days per week.
